What does "financial freedom" mean to YOU?
On July 5th, 2017, I quit my job.
Until that moment, all I could think about was quitting.
I knew the moment I walked about from corporate America, I would be "financially free".
What surprised me is what came after...
I actually dealt with some negative feelings - because I didn't TRULY understand what it meant for me personally to be "financially free."
See what I mean below:
I was shocked to discover...
...that I actually started to deal with some depression.
I thought everything after my job would mean happiness. But not everything is peaches and cream all of the time...
I discovered two things:
1. Yes, I was "free", but none of my friends were
2. I actually had enjoyed mingling with my co-workers
Yes the reality hit: Being financially free can be a lonely road.
There was no one to talk to mid-day, no one to connect with. This is before we had kids as well.
I found myself missing the "water cooler" moments at my previous job.
I changed my mindset
I realized that I had to change my surroundings.
I started sticking to a schedule, getting ready as if I were going to work.
I joined masterminds and groups and found my true people -
Others like me who were also entrepreneurs and financially free.
I found my rhythm and my people and my mindset shifted.
What does this have to do with you?
Why this involves YOU
Like many people, you also may want to become "financially free" one day.
I encourage you to sit down and think about what that means to you.
Think beyond the day you get to say "I quit" to your employer.
What is your ultimate goal? Who do you want to spend your days with? What do you want to be doing with them?
Define your PURPOSE to being financially free.
Maybe that means traveling the world with your spouse. That means you need to be financially free - but so do they in order to travel with you.
So you may need to adjust your goal to retire them as well.
Define your true passions and goals -
And then when you do become financially free, you will also feel fulfilled.
The bottom line
Becoming financially free is a goal I am so very proud of!
And I navigated around some feelings and situations that took me by surprise -
But they don't have to take you by surprise.
Write down your true intentions and goals and how you are going to become financially free.
